Man with book National Learning Network runs practical workshops in understanding and managing diversity in the workplace. It is a very effective method of ensuring that employees are sensitive to disability issues both in their dealings with colleagues and customers.

Workshops are designed to suit all levels and departments within an organisation. They range from very general disability awareness training suitable for all employees to very specific training in recruitment and selection for HR teams.

The objectives of the workshop are:

To explore one's own attitude towards people with disabilities, using case studies to create an open forum for discussion.
To become aware of the etiquette around disability, how to use language, ask questions and to offer assistance and support in a respectful manner without causing unintentional offence.
To provide insight and help overcome the barriers that can exclude people with disabilities in both personal and professional capacities.

Training Methodologies

Events are structured to be as interactive as possible within the time frame set out. The programmes tap into the experience and knowledge which individuals in the group may already have.

The views of all participants are respected and case studies are used to create an open forum for discussion. When applicable, video examples are used. People with disabilities are integral to the training input.

Duration of Training

The length and time frame of training workshops can be designed and tailored to the requirements and specific needs of each organisation. However, for a greater understanding of the topic, a full days training is recommended. This is offered both on or off-site.
