Where a company incurs extra costs in the employment of people with disabilities, grants and incentives can be availed of. Access Ability can assist your company to work through the process of obtaining the following grants:
- Disability Awareness Training Support Scheme
A grant is available to all organisations in the private sector towards providing disability awareness training to staff. The maximum funding available to a company is €20,000 in any one calendar year.
- Employee Retention Grant
This grant will assist employers to retain or retrain existing employees who become disabled through sickness or injury. Up to €15,000 can be attained for the development and implementation of a retention strategy for any one employee.
- Workplace Adaptation and Equipment Grant
This grant provides a maximum amount of €6,348.70 per employee towards the cost of adaptations to premises or specialised equipment so that a person with a disability may enjoy equal employment opportunities.
- Wage Subsidy Scheme
The Wage Subsidy Scheme provides financial incentives to employers who employ people with disabilities for at least 20 hours per week, whose work productivity levels are between 50-80 percent of average performance.
Where a company employs two or more people, an additional grant is provided to compensate for extra supervisory, management or other work based costs.
- Personal Reader Grant
A grant is available for blind or visually impaired people in employment, who need assistance with job related reading.
- Employer's PRSI Exemption Scheme
The Employers PRSI Exemption Scheme relieves companies, who employ eligible candidates, of their PRSI contributions for the first two years of employment.
